About
I work on my PhD in computational ethnomusicology: my goal is to enable computers to extract musical knowledge from ethnomusicological audio recordings. I would like to make large collections of non-Western musical recordings searchable and accessible to every interested person. In the past I provided consultancy on interoperability and metadata standardization to ethnomusicological archives including Berlin Phonogram Archive (DISMARC project). 2006 I coordinated a study on musical diversity in Europe for UNESCO/International Music Council. I perform professionally as a singer and conduct field research in rural Russia. My educational background includes mathematics, computational linguistics and bioinformatics.
